In the early morning, I heard callings from my dear friend, Wutian... and his gang.
"Hmm~" I tried to put on my usual facade, but with a singing voice as I noted something interesting that they got back from their latest adventure.
"I got a lot of stuffs back! Look!" He gestured the monkeys behind him, as they showed me their exploits one by one. There are 5 monkeys that followed him out - Wuming, the New Moon Ape, a Thunder Ape, a Wind Ape, an Earth Ape, and a Fire Ape. "Look at these! We've got plenty of foods, metals, and these shiny stuffs!"
"Hmm?" Well, I can see those for sure - some of them seemed pretty high classed... where did they get it from? "Please don't tell me that you stole from other people-"
"No! Of course not! I have not forgot our pact. Besides, that's beyond my personal policy. After that very day, I swear that I will not steal..." Good, good. "Rather, I would have rob them straight-up front!" ...wait what?
"H...hehe..." Wuming? Why did you laugh? And what's up with the rest of you trying to hold yourself up?
"Seriously Arcaxia, you should see your face right now..." Even Wutian's trying hard not to laugh. What, was my face THAT horrible??? "Alright, alright... I'm just joking. But hey, you didn't say that I couldn't have a lil' revenge from those that hurt us before, right?"
"...mmm."
"So... yeah! That's what I did!" Uhuh. And...? Who are they? "Remember those orcs I told you? Yeah! We crossed roads again, and we managed to beat them up!" Oh wow. That's great. "Yeah, great, right?" Wow, now it's as if he can read my mind?
"I... I can't hold this much too long-" A Wind Ape behind them just burst into a huge laughter. A few others couldn't take it and did the same too. What? Why? What happened??? What's so funny?
"Oh great tree Arcaxia," Even Wuming giggled!!! "Your unending-changing face... humored us. Oh, I pardon for our insolence."
...oh.
That's what's funny.
Tsk.
...
Wait.
WIND APE.
DO NOT LAUGH.
REMEMBER THE LAST TIME YOU LAUGHED?!
"Oh no-" Wutian realized what's going on as the laughters wouldn't stop. A large gust of wind gathered and they were started to form a tornado. Some of them realized it and already stopped their laughter, while they all tried to go near towards the Wind Ape.
"Stop Windy!"
"You have to stop!"
"Don't rip off Great Tree Arcaxia!!!"
"AHAHA- ha... ah."
Oh thank god she stopped. And her face went blue - not as blue as Lil' Blue, but blue enough to show that she's afraid of her powers once again.
"I'm so so so sorry Dear Great Tree Arcaxia! Oh god, I really wished I didn't have so much power..." She apologized again and again, but I really don't blame her. It's not her fault that she suddenly gained so much power.
It's probably my fault, since I'm the one producing those fruits.
"It's alright, oh Windy one," I raised my vine and patted on her head - oh dear lord, she looked like a lost puppy. Sho cute. <3 "It's not your fault, but you have to try your best to control yourself."
"I-I will Great Tree Arcaxia..." And then when she hung herself low, it's even CUTER. It makes me wanna tease her, but no, no, I'm in front of everyone important and this is really not the time to be a pervert-
"Cough, anyway," Wutian stepped in and patted on the Wind Ape's back. "Shall I continue my story?"
So apparently Wutian saw these bunch of Orcs wandering around the forest, and they decided to do some lil' pranks onto them as their revenge... so they threw muds and shits at them, blahblahblah, enraged them... and so they fall into their large net trap.
"And you know what? I lit up a fire underneath them, and say that I'd ROAST THEM UP!" Every monkey in this area snickered and/or laughed at that - though the Wind Ape tried her best not to react towards that. "Then they started to cry and beg us for forgiveness and whatsoevernot... TA-DAAA!" Wutian gestured to those goodies behind him. "They gave us all of these as some sort of compensation!"
"Hmmmmm..." Now I'm curious what kind of items that they receive. I extended my vines and touched the items one by one...
[ Do you wish to analyze the item? ]
[ Yes / No. ]
[ Yes / No. ]
Yes please.
Now, I knew of this skill since they started to take items for me to check - if they're poisonous or not. Since my roots are skillful enough to detect whether it's dangerous or not, I helped them to inspect all the foods that they got from the outside before they eat... and then suddenly I was blessed with "God of Inspection" and gained the skill "Identify Object".
Anyway, I started from the foods that they gave to the monkey. Well, they were all... edible. Albeit they were mostly second-class food. Meh. Whatever. We can try to make them as delicious as possible... with the help of my fruits, of course!
That was expected. But what they received the most... are unexpected.
"Yeah, they said that these were 'useless rocks' and 'if you like them so much and it would appease you, please take them as many as you want' since it'll help them to clear up some spaces," Wutian pointed towards those "useless rocks" that they carried in bags after bags. "I heard that they were going to sell it off to some human merchants, but it probably won't give them a lot compare to the other exploits that they got from the Goblins."
Are... Are you serious...?! Are they mad?! No. These are those "pigs" that we're talking about. Probably they're stupid. Oh. Wait. So THAT'S why I did something so stupid back then! I'm an orc, therefore, I became stupid!!! Fuck these shits. I'm gonna wreck these pigs and teach them a lesson.
ONE DAY.
I mean, how could they just gave these precious ores and jewels away!
I mean, yes, they ARE rough, and you probably can't do much with these quality of ores... but hey! You could have fetch a high price with these! If we managed to set up an ore-refinery... we could have make a HUGE BUCK out of them!
Now, in this world, jewels are very important. You can enhance equipments with them, and you can make accessories out of them, while they will give you various buffs and protections! Tigers-Eye will give you luck and protection; Agate mostly eases your mind and boost your confidence, hence giving you "courage" and lessens the chances of being affected by mental hexes; Emerald increases your intuition; Ruby improves your vitality... well, put it into game words, it increases your HP. Anyway, all sorts of crystals will give you a buff of some sort, so there WILL be people that will buy them.
And now they just gave everything to the monkeys.
"Sigh... Wutian, come," Even though I'm a tree right now, I can feel that their stupidity made my "head" ache. "If you could... go and find the Goblins that they attacked, and negotiate with them. Give them protection, as they provide you with these ores," I whispered towards Wutian as he reached my side. "Trust me - they will be valuable allies. Also, check what kind of skills they have. If it's possible, ask them to teach the monkeys a few things. I'm very sure they know what they're doing with these ores."
"Alright," Wutian's eyes suddenly changed as he received "orders" from me... well, technically they're not orders. They were "advices". However, Wutian deemed them as "orders" as he still somehow view me as his master or something.
Sigh.
I really hope not.
"Also," Even so, I continued. "If you could, try to suit up the monkeys. With you threatening the Orcs, and if they're stupid enough, they will come and fight back once they regained their courage. And when that happened... I hope we're all prepared to fight back."
"I understand."
"Hmm," I reverted back to my usual self as Wutian backed off from me - being how he usually was in front of the others once again. My vines inspected the other stuffs, while I realized that they actually got other exploits not only from the orcs.
Horned Rabbits.
Huh, neat.
"Do not throw away the horns. They can be made into great spears, or daggers," I told them in my solemn voice, where they looked at me filled with astonishment. "Moreover, the furs of the rabbits can be made into clothes - to shield you better from harsh environments."
"I never thought of that!"
"That's brilliant!"
"Let's hunt more of them down!"
"But," I continued, realizing that they could be walking the first path that I dreaded. "You should not overhunt it. Do it in moderation, and only kill them when you really need to. If they attacked you, you may choose to attack them back. But if nothing else matters, our garden should provide enough food for everyone. Until the need arises, I shall not permit the open-hunting of any monsters around our vicinity."
"Why was that, oh great tree?" Wuming asked, her head cocked to aside. The rest of the monkeys have similar questions on their faces.
"..." Hmmm. How should I explain this in the way that they understand? "What do you need for the garden to thrive?"
"Uh... waters?"
"Nutriotional muds?"
"What do you need to survive then?" I continued asking then.
"Food? Water?"
"Do you need to eat the rabbit to survive? Do you not have enough food?"
"Uh... not really..."
"But what about the other monsters?" I looked at them with a serious face. "What do they need to eat to survive?"
The monkeys looked at each other, and pondered about my question. Even though in this valley, there are not much other monsters around... but there are a lot of stronger monsters out there - like Red Bears and Ogres. Horned Rabbits were locals around that area, while Orcs were closer to our cavern. The Red Bears certainly won't get enough food from that area as they have to fight with the Ogres.
"Imagine, the Red Bears already have to fight against the Ogres for food and territory... what happened if we step into that boundary?" I asked the monkeys, raising the dead Horned Rabbit up to the air for them to look at. "Once they couldn't find enough food from that area, they will eventually spread out to hunt from other places... Do you want to see a Red Bear suddenly appear around our area?"
"N-No..."
Yes. A Red Bear is a fearsome monster. In the past, one swipe from that bear would be the dead of several monkeys. Even after they managed to rank up, they do not dare to act foolishly against such monstrosity.
"Perhaps... Perhaps we can fight back if there's only Red Bears... but what if they came together with the Ogres?" I continued. "Probably not both at a time, but continuous attacks. After bears, the ogres come. Do you think you can fend them off successfully?"
They all hung their heads low, knowing that they couldn't win. Well, it's not like they really can't... as long as you have the wits for it. Plus, all these gems, and some help from possible allies... But eh, I don't want to tell them that. Save that for the future.
"So, if you overhunt the Horned Rabbits, once they became extinct, there will be a lot of occurrence that can happen. This is just part of it. Who knows what will happen next? A bunch of humans came to investigate what happened to this mountain, and happened to find us? A lot of things can happen if you do something overboard."
"W-We understand dear great tree Arcaxia..." Wuming bowed down. "I, we, apologize for our ignorance."
"Hmm. It's not your fault that you do not think of these. After all," I smiled and patted all their heads with my vines. "All of you are still young."
And then this is where Wutian shot me a weird look. I was the one that has just "born" here... how could I be so wise? Well, my SPIRIT is old. That's why!
"Alright, if there's nothing else, go and work on your ceremony," I gave them one last wink before sending them off - wait, am I breaking my own facade here? Am I too neat with them?
Eh. Nobody seemed to care. They're all still pondering about my words more than my actions. Oh well. I guess it's fine then.
= = = = = = = = = =
So, let's talk about the settlement right now.
Currently, there are... 47 monkeys. 2 named and ranked-up monkeys while the rest of them are all elemental monkeys. With such a few people, there's really not much things you can set up in this place. Sure, there are little camps and beds here and there... and honestly they didn't really need to build anything to stay in. Trees were their natural habitat, and their home. They could have slept on those trees.
How do they, after evolving, still be able to sleep on those trees?
Simple, I enlarged the trees!
Other than that, it seemed that they loved the vine beds a lot. I'm glad that they love my creations and put them into good use. But other than that creation that seemed odd in this garden? Nothing else.
This garden really seemed to be as natural as it gets.
Trees, flowers, bushes, grasses... there's nothing out of the natural. Save for a few... defensive plants, I guess that's pretty much what's around the garden.
Sigh. This is far from being a functioning settlement. Not even I can do much about this. Even though they're monsters, I kind of expected them to be more civilized like building houses but... you know what they say?
"Why do we need that?"
"Yeah, the cave shelters us from rains and we can sleep well on trees."
Sigh. But what they do NOT understand was that without building huts and stuffs they cannot do more stuffs other than merely "surviving".
Oh well, not that 47 apes can do anything to change this anyway. Last time I'm in a small, functioning settlement we had like hundreds of creatures among us. But hey, at least they're able to get a mini-farm growing! Even though half of that were my efforts... sigh.
I really wonder if I did a lil' bit too many for them.
"So, what do you think of that Earth Ape?"
"The one that follows the leader around?"
"Yeah! That bulky one!"
Hmm? They were talking about the apes? I know that Earth Ape, of course, he's one of Wutian's usual party when they go out for exploration. He's... extremely bulky, if you compare him to the rest of the apes. It's weird that even though there were quite a lot of Earth Apes, and they were ALREADY bulkier than the other apes, this one's EXTREMELY bulky.
As if he's on steroids or something.
"I think he's going to be the next named monkey."
"Well, that's not surprising, seeing that he's always the one that's helping out the leader."
"But what about the Fire Ape that's been following the lord too?"
Yeah, there are a few elemental apes that followed Wutian around. One of them is a Fire Ape, who's shorter than Wutian and extremely hotblooded. He's always the one charging into fights and speaks the most. But when it comes to thinking, he's zero in that area.
"Nah. He's too rowdy and too stupid! He's not suitable to be named!"
"But... he's always the first one to defend us, remember?"
Right. Even though he's the rowdiest, he's the one that always jumps out when there are troubles and tries to help out, regardless what's the result after that... But hey, at least he's brave enough and there's nobody that can make him stop!
"Still, he's more stupid... we need smarter apes... like that Dark Ape?"
"Oh nooooo nonono. Look at him! Everything of him screams evil and dark!" Excuse, black and purple don't necessary mean evil and dark. I can assure you that there's one yellow and white over here is truly evil and dark. "He used to be good friends with leader's... deranged brother. Who knows if they're together?!"
Oho. If they're really together, I will have a good BL to watch here. Mmmmhmmmm~ But no, I can assure you that they're, unfortunately, NOT together.
"Hmmm... then what about that Wind Ape though? She's smart enough?"
"Her!? That crazy monkey!? She's strong and fast, I admit, and not so stupid... but she's damn scary... especially her laughters. Have you seen how crazy those wind blows when she laughed!?"
Yeah. I saw that. She almost ripped me off this morning as she laughed right in front of me. How can I forget that? Of course, I'm trying not to forget that puppy eyes she shot at me when she seemed all so apologetic uhuehuhuehuehue-
Cough.
Anyway, that Wind Ape... has serious power-control issues. Her wind power is over the rank and she could easily gather up a mini tornado if she wants to. But before she choose what she wants, she couldn't control that wind power of hers and kept on destroying numerous plants of mine for several times.
Because she couldn't stand her laughter.
That's the sole reason.
Though I can't get mad at her because some of those jokes were really laugh-worthy. The trees? Worth it. Plus, she seemed extremely apologetic about it and tried very hard to control it. It's so sad to see her trying her best not to overreact at numerous situations anymore - I mean, I like that laughter.
Just not that power.
It almost blow me away.
Literally.
"Yeah... she could get a bit scary- OH! I know!"
"Hmmm?"
"Y'know, the Light Ape? Our previous chieftain's son?"
"Ah! Him! He's good!"
"Yeah, he's good with all sorts of chores and he's good with all monkeys. Look!" The monkey pointed towards that Light Ape, and his little gang. "He already got himself a little team. I bet the previous chieftain's proud of him, even though he's not the current chieftain."
"It's too bad that the previous chieftain chose our current one over him..."
"Well," Suddenly, they got quieter. The conversation turns into a whisper. "I heard that the previous chieftain didn't want the current chieftain to take over him. They said that he forced him."
"What?!"
"I'm serious! They threatened the previous chieftain with young Light Ape's life!"
"T-That's... cruel!"
"I know... but what can we do?"
"Should we nominate the Light Ape and give him the title that he should get back?"
"Are you mad...?!" The monkey immediately covered the other monkey's mouth, looking everywhere to see if anyone else heard that... well, if there's nobody else, I HEARD YA! "We have what we have right now are all due to the leader's guidance! Without him, there's no us! I'm very sure that's the reason why the Light Ape followed him to this cave! His other brothers hated Lord Wutian, but he followed willingly!"
"Uh... O-Okay..."
"Alright, alright," The third ape tried to cool down the situation, and tried to switch the topic. "Then what about..." The monkey then looked over towards his back, and had a goofy smile on his face. "...ms. Beautiful over there?"
Oh yes, they are looking at a female monkey indeed. Now, unlike other monkeys where they have MINIMAL clothes on themselves, this female monkey has the MOST clothes on. Because 1: I said so; and 2: Her body shape is a lil' bit too good. Although all Wood Apes do have great body shapes and most human-like appearance - yes, even male Wood Monkeys - this one is the top of them. It's like the buffed out Earth Ape who has extreme muscles, this one has extreme...
Blossoms.
For my language, it means: Good top and good bottom.
Of course, I have the luxury to look at them whenever she's taking a bath and whatsoever not. With her being the "motherly-like" figure within the cavern I.E. taking care of all monkeys' welfare, I'm pretty sure she gained a large fanbase amongst the monkeys.
"If there's a monkey that should be named... it should be her."
"Yyyyeah... As a Wood Monkey, she already looked so pretty... imagine if she got a name!"
"Lady Wuming is beautiful, but clearly she's not big enough! I really hoped that ms. Beautiful could get a name and be more, SLURP, beautiful!!!"
A bunch of perverts.
Me included, of course.
Then again, I'm not a big fan of extreme blossoms. In fact, I deem them a bit too much and too... oily, in my opinion. Body shape like Wuming's is enough, and I'm very sure there's more than 1 monkey that agrees with me.
"Who's not big enough?"
"WOAH!!! LADY WUMING!!!"
Uh-oh. She heard them, and she's... smiling. Oh dear, this can't go well.
"I think we have some rocks that needs to be carried over. Would you help us out?"
"S-Sure!"
"Oh, and you, could you gather up the vegetables and fruits? I need them properly organized."
"Y-Yes madam!"
"And... Hmmm," She looked towards me, and pondered for a while. W-What, I'm very sure I think of good words for you, m'lady! Please don't cut me down! "I guess one of you should clean up Lord Arcaxia," Oh wow, now I'm the lord. "Also, please make her beautiful by decorating her with these gems."
?!
WHAT?!
DECORATION!?!?!?!?
ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
"Ehem," I made a sound. A loud one.
"Oh. It seemed that the great tree is dissatisfied," Of COURSE I am! I protest! I'm naturally beautiful enough as I am, and there's no need to treat me like a Christmas tree! I'm sacred, and sacred doesn't mean an entertainment! Or an ornament!!! "Maybe we need more gems to decorate her with... Of course, how foolish of me. I should gather more gems for such a blessed tree like Lord Arcaxia!
Right?"
Don't... you... smile at me that way...
Sun Wuming...!!!!!!
"Hmmm."
Alright.
It's official.
I'm not a sacred tree.
I'm a scared tree.
Sigh.
